Whenever you think of Mexico I am sure that the first thing that comes to mind are the incredibly beautiful beaches and the bright blue ocean waters. Having become a seasoned vet at traveling to many of Mexico’s all inclusive hotels and beaches there is one small part of Mexico that stole my heart immediately upon my arrival. Huatulco, Mexico is a resort region in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. This region is made up of 9 dreamy white Pacific coast beaches. When I say that this is one of Mexico’s best kept secrets I am not kidding, the beauty of this part of Mexico is unlike anything I had ever really seen before. Oaxaca is located where the foothills of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains meet the Pacific Ocean approximately 500 km south of Acapulco, Guerrero. The population is 50,000 people and is said to be one of the safest places for tourists to visit in Mexico. I had the absolute pleasure of staying at Secrets Resort and Spa Huatulco, a resort which I cannot recommend enough!

Upon my arrival I was greeted by friendly staff bearing silver trays of by far some of the most colorful and decorated cocktails I had ever seen. You know you are in paradise when your drinks have those cute little umbrellas on them! The feeling of walking into the hotel lobby was remarkably relaxing. The lobby is an open area with panoramic views of the Pacific waters. While the concierge checks you in they encourage you to grab a drink at their fully stocked bar in the corner of the lobby. There is a lot to explore so make sure you grab a list of all of the activities going on!

Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa offers 399 luxurious oceanfront suites, each featuring a king-size bed (or two double beds), whirlpool  for two, private terrace that could include a private pool in the front of the room, or a balcony. Each room is fully equipped with a stocked mini bar, robes, large rainfall showers, and room service upon request. The rooms also come fully loaded with full size shampoos, conditioners, and lotions.

Rooms: There are one, two, and three bedroom residences. There is also their one bedroom swim out suite that allows you to literally walk out your back patio into a long lap pool that is sectioned off so that you can experience ample amounts of privacy while laying in the water and watching the sunset and rise.

Rates: Junior Ocean Front Suites starting at $163.50 USD per night. If you are looking for something a little more pricey and upscale their Preferred Club One-Bedroom Swim Out Suites start at $294.00 USD per night.

Check-Out: 12pm noon, flexible subject to availability. Check-in between 3pm and midnight. Minimum check-in age is 18.

Private beach, nearby golf course, restaurants, bar, outdoor swimming pools with poolside bar, full-service spa with steam room and sauna, state of the art fitness center with optional classes, gift shop, WiFi in rooms and in main lobby.

Included water sports: Kayaking, Water Aerobics, Pool Volleyball, Snorkeling, and Hobie Cats.

Water sports available at additional costs: Jet Ski’s, Sailing, etc. It is always best to check with the front desk prior to booking any excursions, they are more than happy to help with any questions you may have concerning rentals or day trips.

Secrets has ten incredible dining facilities, but not all are open on the same days, so plan in advance if you want to try them all! They have a variety of different things to try– ranging from elegant French and Italian cuisines to Steak and Pan-Asian Fusion cuisine. They also have an international buffet and coffee bar. They literally have something for everybody!

Bar Scene- One of the most inviting places at the resort to grab a martini is the Sky Bar, a beautifully lit open bar area overlooking the Pacific waters. The service is fantastic, the drinks are superb and they have a fully stocked bar that includes a variety of premium spirits.

The Resort also includes full service swim up bars, indoor bars, as well as the option to opt out of the public experience and enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach along with full service champagne and wine! This may by far be one of the cutest things I have seen, they set up rose pedals for couples leading you out to the beach where you can enjoy your dinner with your feet inches away from the ocean waters! This is a SUPER romantic option for anyone on their Honeymoon!

Tucked away along the secluded coastline of Conejos Bay, Secrets Resort and Spa Huatulco sits overlooking miles of beautiful white sanded beaches. Secrets combines both luxury and convenience in one with it’s prime location as well as it’s top of the line accommodations.

PERSONAL SUGGESTION: One of the excursions that I took was a charter boat and snorkeling trip that left out of the Chahue Marina. It was extremely fun, they provided us with fresh civeche and drinks. I highly recommend getting out into the water via boat to see the surrounding beaches, the scenery is breathtaking and the waters are bright crystal blue!

BY PLANE: Huatulco International Airport (HUX) is 28 minutes (26.1 km) from Secrets Resort and Spa Huatulco. When finding a flight to Huatulco you may end up having to transfer flights only because not all airlines fly directly to HUX. When I flew to Huatulco I flew United Airlines into Mexico City and then from Mexico City flew with Interjet (incredible airlines btw!) to Huatulco International Airport. Once you arrive to HUX there are plenty of taxis and most hotels have shuttles to take you directly to your destination.

BY CAR: I would highly recommend taking a shuttle to your destinations, everything is relatively close in proximity and most hotels offer shuttles if you are planning on going on any excursions.
